Foot-LITE is a project awarded under the UK Government’s Future Intelligent Transport Systems under the Intelligent Transport Systems and Services Innovation Platform (ITSS IP), and is co-funded by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), the Department for Transport (DfT), and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

The aim of the Foot-LITE project is to create a revolutionary driver information system designed to educate and encourage safer and greener driving and longer term behavioural changes to help reduce traffic pollution emissions and other social and environmental impacts.

Using existing technologies, Foot-LITE will capture, process and display information about journeys and driving style through user friendly smart phone applications. With web access, drivers will be able to see post-journey feedback for a comprehensive review of driving behaviour and also to share data with the Foot-LITE on-line community.

The project will undertake all the necessary research and development to define and produce a prototype system which will be evaluated by a group of drivers in normal driving conditions.
